LEARN MORE ABOUT HORVITZ & LEVY

Because of the unique nature of Horvitz & Levy’s appellate practice, the firm seeks to hire attorneys with a strong interest in civil appellate work and superior legal analysis and writing skills. We seek candidates who graduated near the top of their respective law school classes, worked on a law review or participated in moot court, and have had appellate court clerkships or significant general litigation or appellate experience. We ordinarily do not hire associates directly out of law school, but attorneys have joined us from judicial clerkships. Recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply to our Appellate Fellowship Program.

Horvitz & Levy offers a unique opportunity for attorneys to specialize in civil appellate practice. The firm sponsors an ongoing training program in appellate procedure and brief writing for new associates. Under the supervision of an editing attorney, new associates begin drafting appellate briefs upon joining the firm and generally have the opportunity to participate in oral arguments soon thereafter. On multiple occasions, our associates have presented oral arguments before the Supreme Court of California.

In keeping with our strong commitment to diversity, we seek candidates who will contribute to the firm’s success, regardless of their race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, gender and gender identity, gender expression, age, veteran status, disability, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other status as defined and protected by law.

The firm offers a wide range of benefits, including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k), paid parental and personal leave, and a merit-based bonus system.

The application process begins with submission of a cover letter and resume to the firm’s recruiting coordinator at hiring@horvitzlevy.com. Applicants are encouraged to contact the coordinator directly rather than through a recruiter.
